Smart Instruments S.r.l. is an innovative start-up specialising in the development of high-tech engineering solutions for the measurement, monitoring and control of processes, systems and structures.
The company combines expertise in hardware, software and engineering design to develop electronic devices, data acquisition systems, embedded architectures and customised solutions. It also supports customers and partners through specialist consultancy, technical assistance and maintenance services.
Its research and development activities focus on the design of smart sensors and smart meters, wireless sensor networks, advanced telemetry systems and embedded solutions for process control. Additional areas of expertise include image-processing-based measurement systems and Instrument Fault Detection, Isolation and Accommodation (IFDIA) methodologies.
Smart Instruments’ mission is to turn research into practical applications by introducing innovative technologies into the industrial, civil engineering and environmental sectors. Each project begins with an analysis of specific operational requirements and is developed into a reliable, integrated and results-oriented solution.
R&D − RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT
Smart Instruments carries out a multi-year Research and Development programme focused on defining advanced methodologies for the analysis, monitoring and structural control of buildings and infrastructure used in civil and industrial applications.
Le principali aree di ricerca riguardano:
- the mechanical behaviour of reinforced concrete structures affected by damage and instability;
- structural response and shrinkage phenomena in composite construction systems;
- the evolution of the physical and mechanical properties of mass concrete during setting and hardening;
- ground consolidation through the use of expanding resins;
- the application of acoustic measurements to the monitoring of ground consolidation processes.
Through a multidisciplinary approach and continuous experimental activity, Smart Instruments develops instruments and methodologies designed to make measurement and control processes smarter, more accurate and more efficient.
